LADIES,
IF YOU WANT TO GET LEANER, BUILD MUSCLE
Even if fat loss is your
priority, do your best to retain muscle. Why? Because it’s pretty and
metabolically expensive (it burns more calories, even at rest). Why would you want to destroy
something that eats up calories and makes you look harder and tighter? If you
think your hips or legs (or any other body part) are “too big” the worst thing
you can do is try to lose muscle (atrophy) that area.
Don’t get so obsessed with
losing weight or inches that you make yourself weak, skinny, flabby and
metabolically stunted. That is what happens when you obsess on weight loss or
inches instead of getting fit.
Don’t misunderstand;
nutrition is a priority when you’re trying to get lean. Remember; you can’t out train a
bad diet. But resistance training will make your efforts to get rid of
the fat and keep it off so much easier.
Sorry, you can’t retain or
gain muscle using those cute little pink dumbbells. You have to put in some
effort. And it won’t happen with cardio alone. You’ll need to incorporate
compound lifts into your workout. Start with body weight if you must-just
start!
