I
TRAIN BODYBUILDERS
There are only four main
goals for people who lift weights:
1. To
get stronger
2. To
improve health/function/rehab
3. To lose weight
4. To look better
Obviously, some of these
things overlap. One may want to lose weight to get healthier and look better. Or lose weight to
improve health. But everyone has one main goal, though they often won’t admit
it.
But if your goals involve
number 3 or number 4 you are a bodybuilder, my friend.
You know what the difference
between a professional bodybuilder and a guy looking to get “toned” is? The
bodybuilder is more successful.
Both go to the gym for the same
reasons: to maximize muscle and minimize fat. Bodybuilding includes other
factors, of course, but building muscle is the foundation. Bodybuilding is no
more than recompositioning your body.
Want to get rid of those love
handles or baby fat around the middle? Ladies, do you want to lift the butt a
little? Have shapelier legs?
I hear all types of reasons for
getting more fit. But if I dig deep enough the majority of people admit that #4
is the real reason.
If you lift weights to improve the way you look, you are a
bodybuilder
So don’t ignore articles or
hints or programs that mention “bodybuilding”. There is a better than 80%
chance you are a bodybuilder!
